In October 2025, WIL Australia convened a national roundtable that brought together participants from universities, industry, community organisations and government to reflect on the achievements of the National Priorities and Industry Linkage Fund (NPILF) and chart a course for ongoing sustainable, equitable Work-Integrated Learning across Australian higher education. 

The Quality WIL Standards Framework (2026) updates the 2019 quality standards to ensure they remain current, evidence‑informed, and aligned with contemporary regulatory expectations and emerging research. Substantial shifts in WIL policy, practice, and scholarship since 2019 prompted this evolutionary refresh, which retains the core structure of the original framework while strengthening alignment with TEQSA and HESF requirements.
