Supporting diverse graduate career pathways

Although narratives about graduate careers often imply a relatively direct or linear transition from study to full-time employment, research suggests this transition is complex and that a proportion of graduates pursue self-directed employment options. This presentation will showcase some examples of graduate early career pathways. These examples will be used to understand strategies graduates have used to pursue self-directed employment options (e.g., freelancing and entrepreneurship) and/or portfolio careers, and to prompt discussion and reflection about universities’ and educators’ roles in supporting students to pursue diverse graduate pathways.
