Sharing is Knowledge: building and sustaining WIL Communities of Practice

Work Integrated Learning continues to rise in importance across the sector. As such, more staff across institutions are recognising the importance to learn about WIL. Aside from the fantastic ACEN webinars, institutional communities of practice (COP) are a great way of sharing WIL knowledge and supporting staff professional development. The reality is, many CoPs are not created equally, are successful and or sustainable. This webinar explores the various models of CoPs, their strengths and weaknesses, and explore the elements that lead to a thriving CoP and factors the contribute to their decline. Our panel share their experience of CoPs at their institutions, and we will explore what CoPs might look like in the future. Breakout rooms will explore current institutional CoP and their relative success and challenges.

The Webinar will be presented by Dr Wayne Read (Deakin) and Leoni Russell (RMIT), and will feature case studies from Dr Linda Jaffray (University of Tasmania) and Associate Professor Sophia Xenos (RMIT). The session will be supported by Rachael Baron (LaTrobe), Julie Harbert (Monash), and Nicola Fish (Swinburne).
