WIL in GOS
Gauging student participation in WIL and the impact on graduate outcomes through the GOS
WIL Australia has developed five items which members can include in the Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) at no cost. The Graduate Outcomes Survey is a component of the Quality Indicators for Learning and Teaching (QILT) suite of surveys, commissioned by the Australian Government’s Department of Education.
Main Objectives
The main objectives of the five WIL Australia items are to measure:
participation in different types of WIL
participation in employability-related activities
(extra- or co-curricular)
participation in paid work activities
influence of WIL and employability-related activities on graduate outcomes
WIL Australia members who choose to include the five items in their GOS receive data as part of their institutional GOS dataset, provided by the Social Research Centre.
WIL Australia receives the aggregated data set for all participating members from the Social Research Centre and releases a summary report of findings each year. These reports provide important national benchmarks to which institutions can compare their own performance. The summary reports can be found below.
Using the aggregated national data from the five items, WIL Australia has produced a three-year review of student participation in WIL and a three-year review of the impact of WIL on graduate outcomes. Links to the three-year reviews can be found below.
